Eaton Corporation CNC Rotary Grinding Machinist in Rumford, Rhode Island

Eaton’s IS AER FED division is currently seeking a CNC Rotary Grinding Machinist.

The hours for this role are 3:00pm - 11:00pm

The hourly rate for this position is $31.78 p/h + $0.60 p/h shift differential per hour.

What you’ll do:

Set-up and operate CNC Rotary Grinding Machine to perform overall height grinding, face chamfer, and other grinding operations on steels, stainless steels, chrome hard face, etc. Working from blueprints, operation sheets, method sheets, sketches, and/or verbal instructions. Operator will be required to load and modify information in CNC control when necessary. Setup etching machine to etch Hydrodynamic feature on mating rings. Occasionally running prototype and/or experimental parts. Load parts into oven for baking, assembly of seals. Lap faces to blueprint specifications using appropriate lapping machines.

Select proper wheels and diamond type dressers to perform various grinding operations and set proper feeds and speeds. Set-up magnetic or air chucks, face plates, holding fixtures, collets, etc.

Set-up and use micrometers, verniers, depth gauges, Height gauges, dial bore gauges, three jaw comparators, jo- blocks, and other instruments to establish size and check machine set-up and run. Inspect seal and mating ring faces to blueprint requirements using specified measuring equipment. Responsible for own work. Have set-up verified by Supervisor or group leader before proceeding. Operator will be required to run multiple machines.

Prior related grinding experience on anyone of the following: Internal, External, Surface Grinding Machines or

CNC Turning Machines.

Report faulty operations, defective material, or conditions to Supervisor or group leader. Observe company safety rules and regulations. Maintain work area, equipment, and tools in a clean and orderly manner. Move parts as required.

Assume Gearbox and PWA Utility Operator job descriptions when Mating Ring Cell machinery is down, cell is out of work or when deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications:

  • Must have experience using shop mathematics and handbook formulas.

  • Must be able to read complicated drawings and sketches.

  • Must be able to use a variety of precision measuring instruments.

  • Knowledge of variety of machine tools, machines, hand operations.

  • Over one year up to & including 3 years.

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Skills:

  • Plan and perform a wide range of machining operations on a wide range of parts and materials Use judgment to plan and perform diversified work where standard or recognized operationmethods are available and the making f general decisions within prescribed limitations as toquality, tolerances, operation, and set up sequence.

  • Moderate physical effort working continuously with material of twenty-five pounds and up to 40 pounds.

  • Continuous mental and visual attention to planning and laying out of work, making setups, interpreting drawings, maintaining close tolerances.

  • 2 to 3 years trades training
