This position exists to support the mission of nursing services - Partnering in Health and Well Being. This position assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of office procedures and work systems to ensure timely delivery of nursing and medical services to the incarcerated population. This position is delegated work as the coordinator for all special duty utilization review requests, authorizations and appointment coordination. This position works with contracted medical vendor and specialty consult providers to provide timely, efficient and effective medical services to the incarcerated population.

Minimum Qualifications

To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held .

  • Knowledge of and experience using medical terminology to develop and maintain accurate medical records, transcribe dictation and proofread transcribed medical reports.

  • Data entry skills sufficient to access and update Department of Corrections (DOC)-specific databases and other computer systems to gather and report data.

  • Word processing skills sufficient to prepare documents and reports.

  • Spreadsheet skills sufficient to develop, design and manipulate spreadsheets.

  • Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to incarcerated individuals, staff, and county officials on the phone, through email and other written correspondence.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:

  • Associate's degree or higher.

  • Experience working in a medical office setting.

  • Experience working in a correctional or secured setting.

  • Experience using an electronic health record (EHR) system.

Physical Requirements

Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.

New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
