The Work You Will Do:

The Employment Security Representative I (ESR I) is a professional position with the FloridaCommerce which promotes employment and training programs alongside of the Workforce Development Board frontline staff. You will focus on placement services for career seekers using Employ Florida (EF), job boards, local and community resources. Ensures quality referrals are based on employer defined skill sets and requirements. Employers are provided job order services, job creation, updates, placement verifications, follow-up and hiring events. You will make sure career seekers and employers understand all services provided by CareerSource Tampa Florida.

You will impact Florida Citizens by assisting job seekers to obtain and retain employment. You will ensure information is adequately documented in EmployFlorida (EF) system to assist local employers in attracting and retaining qualified candidates based on their needed skill sets. FloridaCommerce is a fast-paced work environment in which critical thinking and prioritizing are a must.

How You Will Grow:

CareerSource Tampa will provide essential training on all Wagner-Peyser programs such as Labor Market Information (LMI), Veterans Program, Trade Adjustment Act, Migrant Seasonal Farmworkers in addition to the Employ Florida and Unemployment systems. Trainings are made available throughout the year and on request with our Office of HR Training and with our Division of Workforce Training Unit.     Pay: $32,760.00 - $36,036.00 annually

    Your Specific Responsibilities:

    • Greets and assists career seekers and employers by assessing primary needs and directing customers to appropriate services via in person.

    • Assist with Agriculture Employers and job seekers with review of Migrant and Seasonal FarmWorker services and referrals to employment.

    • Assist with data entry, scanning and EmployFlorida registrations for Migrant and Seasonal FarmWorkers.

    • Reviews applications prepared by applicants for completeness through online/virtual systems; Assists applicants in obtaining appropriate employment by evaluating skills, work experiences, abilities, and education.

    • Conducts interviews to determine eligibility, to detect issues and/or provides information to those interested in employment via EmployFlorida website, local in-house recruitment events and job fairs.

    • Coordinates the provision of Employ Florida labor exchange services to employers and eligible persons which include intake and assessment, counseling, testing, job search assistance, referral, and placement.

    • Assess the needs of customers to determine the eligibility of applicants and refer to services such as, Migrant Seasonal Farm Workers, Veteran Employment Services, Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program (SNAP), Welfare Transition (WT), Ticket to Work, Job Youth Programs, Federal Bonding, Trade Adjustment Act (TAA), Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) and In-House Hiring Events, etc.

    • Ensures full compliance with state, federal or local policy of entering staff assisted services codes and documentation recorded in EF. Reach out to new Employ Florida registrants and encourage them to take advantage of all of CareerSource Tampa Bay resources.

    • Aids and provides instructions to customers utilizing services, initiation of EF registration, and information available in the Resource Room. Ensures that customers use computers and equipment for their intended purpose and redirect customers who are using resources inappropriately. May explain and clarify re-employment policies and procedures for unemployment compensation claimants.

    • Participates in all aspects of teamwork, and as a willing partner in not only the specific team, but in the organization. All team members are expected to have a working knowledge of the CareerSource services offered to customers and should be prepared to provide back-up coverage in other areas during peak periods, or when staffing shortages arise due to lunch hours, vacations, or illness.

    • Maintains neat and orderly, professional work area(s).

    • Work throughout CareerSource Tampa Florida’s One-Stops as needed/scheduled.

    • Maintains strict rules of confidentiality and protect personal identifiable information of job seekers and employers.

    • Identifies and recommends to Supervisor actions, services needed to maintain customer flow and compliance with established regulations, directives, and procedures.

    • May assist with contact center calls as needed.

    • Perform other related duties as requires or assigned.

      Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point).

Ability to use various virtual platforms (MS Teams, Zoom etc.)

Knowledge of the methods of data collection.

Knowledge of the principles of techniques of effective customer service and the ability to provide excellent customer service.

Knowledge of Employ Florida and other web-based self-help products.

Knowledge of Wagner-Peyser/Employ Florida and other related Florida Commerce Opportunity programs.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in individual and group settings, both verbally and in writing

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state and national law enforcement records.

Minimum –

• Successful completion of the Florida Certified Workforce Professional Tier 1 training within 12 months of hire.

• Required to travel locally within the Hillsborough County region and must furnish own transportation.

• Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.

Preferred –

Bilingual Spanish/English

Experience in recruitment, customer service and/or placement services

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Professional or nonprofessional experience in employment security, counseling or administrative experience. May substitute for the preferred college education on a year-four-year basis.
