Rye Country Day School Middle School Language Arts Teacher in Rye, New York

Rye Country Day School is seeking a Middle School Language Arts Teacher beginning in August 2025. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, Prek-12, college preparatory school located in Westchester County, New York dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches. Specific responsibilities of the position include:

  • Teach four sections of Middle School Language Arts

  • Grade student work and write reports as required

  • Serve as a Middle School advisor and participate in all school, division, and departmental meetings as well as field trips, special activities, and rotational duties

  • Maintain contact with advisees, deans, and parents as necessary

  • Be committed to student learning, personal growth, and seek out and participate in professional growth opportunities embracing a growth mindset

    Desired qualifications:

  • Masters degree required

  • 3-5 years of experience teaching at the Middle School level, plus a strong grasp of the unique needs of learners in the Middle School

  • Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills

  • Comfort with technology, including a 1:1 laptop program and online course management system

  • A well-developed sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community members; a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • An ability and willingness to support the extracurricular life of the school

  • Genuine excitement for and ability to work with Middle School students, faculty, staff, and parents
