Mitsubishi Chemical Carbon Fiber and Composites (MCCFC) is composed of several companies, but at its core there are two. In April 2013, two California Companies, Grafil, a carbon fiber manufacturer in Sacramento and Newport Adhesives and Composites, a prepreg manufacturer in Irvine, were merged to create Mitsubishi Rayon Carbon Fiber and Composites (MRCFAC); then in 2017, we re-branded to MCCFC. Since our merge, we have made multiple acquisitions within the United States. In addition to these acquisitions, we have continued to improve and expand our current facility’s capabilities. We are a company with a dedicated focus on responsiveness, quality, and customer support, we are working hard to match the growing global and domestic demand for these advanced materials.

Job Purpose

Monitor, train and assist maintenance staff and assure support for the planned and/or breakdown maintenance of the production plant. Coordinate/plan - schedule PM’s / workorders / requests to efficiently and effectively utilize the available resources to maintain the performance expectations of the department. Verify staff are properly managing parts & supplies usage to avoid risks. Maintain close contact with production and maintenance leadership to assure responsiveness to their needs. The duties may be amended at the discretion of management to reflect changing business conditions or requirements at MCCFC.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Work in a safe manner with attention to the correct use of PPE & LOTO procedures, confined space restrictions, and hot work requirements.

  • Provide leadership and hands on assistance in troubleshooting and other critical work areas.

  • Certain emergency situations require that the acting Maintenance Supervisor contact someone from MCCFC management immediately. These include, but are not limited to, 1) serious employee injury, 2) major equipment malfunction ,3) employee gross misconduct ,4) inspection by a government agency ,5) The maintenance supervisor is required to enact their Stop Work Authority for any unsafe action or process discovered in the plant. All emergencies must be reported in a timely manner based on the incident reporting protocol.

  • Adheres to and enforces the employee handbook including attendance, code of conduct, compliance and disciplinary action. Where practical, all formal disciplinary action should be reviewed with plant management prior to implementation. In extreme cases where immediate action is required, the maintenance supervisor has full authority to remove any employee or visitor from the plant pending investigation by plant management.

  • Create and or modify preventative maintenance schedules working with management.

  • Monitors maintenance activities to ensure that daily maintenance tasks and goals are met timely and accurately.

  • Evaluates current maintenance schedule and plans new maintenance orders around existing schedule to ensure no scheduling conflicts.

  • Intakes unplanned maintenance requests and delegates appropriate resources to fulfill maintenance orders.

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge on relevant electrical and mechanical equipment or systems.

  • Works with Crew leads daily to receive maintenance updates and provides additional resources or time as needed.

  • Communicates with vendors and contractors to ensure that maintenance schedule is maintained.

  • Provides reports to management on maintenance activities.

  • Guides and instructs new and existing team member training requirements.

  • Ensures that safety and quality control standards are consistently met.

  • Updates maintenance logs for all equipment.

  • Prioritize and effectively utilize planned downtime to keep equipment maintained.

  • Critical thinking and the ability to adjust dynamically when issues arise.

  • Flexible in adjusting work schedule to ensure both shifts are getting the support & face time needed

  • Work closely with the maintenance manager on KPI’s & continuous improvements for department performance.

  • Proactively communicate challenges and issues with resources to avoid risks.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing,

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to interact effectively with various company departments.

  • Knowledge and understanding of safety practices and principles related to the maintenance process, basic knowledge of inventory control, and employment law practices.

  • Strong electrical & mechanical background. Able to read schematics, troubleshoot / interpret PLC I/0, calibrate and troubleshoot instrumentation & controls, VFD setup and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to coordinate and work multiple projects and priorities, and the ability to delegate.

  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills required. Good leadership skills.

  • Must be flexible to changes in work duties and have the willingness to work overtime as needed. Ability to respond in emergency situations.

  • Basic computer skills utilizing Excel / MS word along with department CMMS systems and Share Point.

Pay Transparency (complete highlighted sections)

  • The salary range for this position is $94,265 - $117,832. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
