Robert Half Patient Account Representative in Sacramento, California

Description

A Patient Account Representative is responsible for liaising between hospitals or health care facilities, patients, and insurance companies to ensure correct billing procedures. Their duties often include processing transactions, handling billing inquiries, resolving patient billing complaints, helping set up payment plans, maintaining patient records, and securing the financial health of healthcare facilities by managing the accounts receivable. They are also responsible for verifying the validity of account discrepancies by obtaining pertinent information.

They are expected to maintain strict confidentiality, adhere to HIPAA guidelines, and have knowledge of standard medical billing practices. Customer service and strong communication skills are essential in this role, given that they often interact with patients regarding sensitive financial matters.

Previous experience in healthcare billing or accounting is preferred and a high school diploma or a bachelor's degree in a related field is often required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other related software applications.
