The Industrial Engineer is an individual contributor and serves as a vital function for Linear Motion LLC by applying engineering knowledge and business acumen to partner with cross functional teams from production operations, engineering, quality, supplier management, materials management, and program management to achieve Linear Motion LLC business goals and objectives and improve our operational excellence within our customers’ value streams. The Industrial Engineer reports to the Director of Operations-OEM. This position will be onsite and based out of Linear Motion LLC in Saginaw, MI.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Applies basic industrial engineering concepts, approaches and techniques to product, process, and services to meet program requirements.

  • Supports the development of plant and equipment layouts, capacity plans, and sequencing of operations and workflows.

  • Participates in the evaluation of new techniques and technological developments for integration into the production process and service operations.

  • Assists with designing, maintaining, and optimizing the Umbra Production System by integrating design, supply base, facilities, equipment, and personnel.

  • Conducts basic workflow design and analysis.

  • Develops simple models, databases, and spreadsheets to analyze data and provides summary analysis and metrics for consultation to leaders.

  • Supports research, design, develop, improve, and implementation of processes and tools to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, for large scale systems integration and asset utilization.

  • Supports implementation plans and programs for facility/factory modifications and revisions to operating methods.

  • Documents product assembly instructions and standardizes assembly practices.

  • Supports the preparation of operations plans, includes work order analysis, budgeting and forecasts, capacity and constraint analysis and production changes, to ensure technical goals and objectives are met.

  • Supports execution planning by using project management, planning, and scheduling, and shop load practices.

  • Provides production, supply chain logistics, performance visibility and recovery planning support.

  • Follows compliance requirements with established industry quality, safety, and design standards.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

The Industrial Engineer will possess excellent communication skills and work collaboratively with all levels of the organization in a manufacturing environment to innovatively resolve problems without teams of direct reports. The Industrial Engineer will possess data mining and analytical skills, expert Excel skills within a Dynamics 365 operating (or similar) environment.

Due to ITAR regulations, the Industrial Engineer must be a U.S. person. A U.S. person includes U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees.

Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited bachelor’s degree course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry or an equivalent combination of technical education and up to two years’ related work experience. An ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Language, Math, and Reasoning Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, set-up sheets, travelers, procedure manuals and government regulations.

Computer Skills:

Must be able to use the computer and computer software as required by job.
