Nexteer Automotive Mechanical Engineering Co-Op 2024 in Saginaw, Michigan

The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Engineers and production in gathering, processing, and reviewing data

  • Work with hand tools and test equipment to complete experimental testing

  • Learn new programs and systems to collect and process data

  • Create presentations to communicate test findings

  • Timely communication of project status and relevant issues

  • Build products with attention to detail in setting all assembly specifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate must be attending a 2-year college or 4-year university local to Saginaw

  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering

  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters

  • Up to 40 in the summer

  • Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale

  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters

  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship

  • Eagerness to learn and maintains a positive attitude

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and documentation

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others

  • Technical knowledge of mechanical/engineering principles

  • Knowledge of product design process and/or tooling and manufacturing processes preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and coordinate multiple activities

  • Demonstrated commitment to a disciplined approach on projects

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written

  • Knowledge / Expertise in the following: Microsoft Office, Problem Solving Techniques, CAD software; Optional: Matlab, CAE, LabView
