RESPONSIBLE TO: The Building Administrators and Teachers of the Millet Learning Center

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. USW Union, Paraprofessionals.
  2. Rate of pay beginning at $15.41 per hour. Rate increases if the applicant has completed college credits.
  3. One (1) full-time position. Nine (9) months based upon the established 2024-2025 school year.
  4. Support all school programs at the Transitions Center School with a primary focus on worksites and secondary focus on classroom instructions support
  5. Start date is upon expiration of the posting deadline and in accordance with Article XIII, Section C of the USW Contract.

GENERAL SUMMARY: These positions will provide instructional and non-instructional services to students with disabilities as outlined by the Building Administrators and/or Transitions Center Teachers.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS: Person will have the ability to:

  1. Provide support services to students in basic and intermediate work skills training including, but not limited to job coaching, modeling, honest conversations, and/or structured practice opportunities
  2. Collect and calculate data regarding student performance through observation and/or student work.
  3. Be flexible and adaptable to fill in at any worksite location when needed
  4. Implement activities to assist students in achieving their IEP goals as provided by a teacher
  5. Implement and/or monitor behavior treatment plans under the direction of a certified teacher.
  6. Collaborate with teachers and worksite staff to ensure maximum success for students
  7. Model and promote a positive image of self and organization when in the community.
  8. Communicate with community partners on a regular basis to foster the relationship
  9. Provide support to peers in best practices related to teaching job skills
  10. Safely transport students to various locations in the community using a school-provided vehicle.
  11. Maintain information about any student, parent and/or staff confidential.
  12. Have a positive attitude in working with students, parents, other staff members and community members
  13. Ensure a safe environment for students at all times.
  14. Must be willing to receive additional training to improve job skills.

MARGINAL SKILLS:

  1. Provide direct and/or standby assistance for feeding, toileting, health care, and related medical services, etc. for students as legally allowable.
  2. Assist in a 2-person team with the lifting of students weighing 75lbs. or more.
  3. Assist with securing wheelchairs on buses, and any other duties that are necessary to provide a safe environment for students while traveling on a bus during the school day.
  4. Provide non-instructional services to students such as, but not limited to; student mobility, general health and safety, loading/unloading buses, monitoring lunchroom and other unstructured time.
  5. Other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School diploma or GED.
  2. Basic computer skills.
  3. Experience working with students, students with disabilities or as a trainer is preferred
  4. Must be willing to perform personal care for students as needed
  5. Must be able to work effectively with Administration, co-workers, students and parents.
  6. Must have good oral/written communication, comprehension, and math skills.
  7. Must have a good attendance history.
  8. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 3 points to be able to drive District vehicles.

TESTING MAY BE ADMINISTERED IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: Arithmetic, spelling, vocabulary, number comparison, name comparison, and writing ability.
