Saginaw ISD Recreation Supervisor in Saginaw, Michigan

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of the Hartley Outdoor Education Center/Murphy Farm.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. Administrative/Non-Bargaining.
  2. Salary: $20.00 per hour.
  3. One (1) part-time school year position. (Days worked based on Hartley school year schedule).
  4. Approximately: 100 days. *Hours and days may vary based on Hartley school year schedule.*

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Director of the Hartley Outdoor Education Center/Murphy Farm, the Recreation Supervisor is responsible for planning and conducting the evening recreational activities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. To plan and conduct innovative evening recreation programs and activities for students and special events.
  2. To become knowledgeable and familiar with the Michigan Department of Human Services Camp Licensing laws and policies for Camp Programs.
  3. Maintains recreation equipment and facilities in good working order.
  4. Responsible for administering medications to students and camp counselors.
  5. Responsible for providing first aid and emergency care to students and program participants when required.
  6. Adheres to all of the written mandatory standards of operations inclusive of but not limited to the following: Saginaw Intermediate School District Board Policy, Michigan School Code, and Michigan Licensing Rules for Children and Adult Foster Care Camps.
  7. Provides a high level of customer service as described in the mission statement of Saginaw Intermediate School District.
  8. Maintains the confidentiality of all student, parent, and staff information.
  9. Performs other related responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Hartley Outdoor Education Center/Murphy Farm.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's Degree preferred with a major in the areas of education, recreation programming, or youth work.
  2. Prior relative experience in teaching, youth work, or recreation programming.
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to lead and complete assigned agenda.
  5. Demonstrated initiative, enthusiasm, and organizational ability.
  6. Must have the ability to utilize all required SISD technology and equipment and must be proficient and adept in personal computer skills inclusive of word processing and internet navigation.
  7. Must be able to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  8. Ability to lift a minimum of seventy-five (75) pounds.
