The Boeing Direct Attack Weapons organization in St. Charles, MO , seeks Real-Time Software Engineers (Mid-level or Senior) to develop, integrate, test, and deliver complex software solutions. The Direct Attack Weapons organization is a strong and growing business that produces world-class precision-guided munitions. These munitions, which you will be a part of developing, are employed worldwide to support the defense of the United States and more than 30 U.S. allied countries, making a significant global impact.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels, including Mid-level and Senior Level Software Engineers.

The Direct Attack, Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM), and Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) software team is responsible for developing and maintaining the Operational Flight Programming (OFP) software and other real-time embedded software products that fulfill the mission processing functionality of the weapon systems. We use the Agile methodology and the Secure Digital Transformation Environment tool stack (Jira, BitBucket, Confluence, Artifactory) to develop the OFP software, which is written in Ada.

The selected engineer will work with a multi-discipline engineering team to design, develop, and deploy operational flight software on precision-guided munition weapon systems! The engineer will perform software leadership and engineering activities in all phases of the software development lifecycle to implement real-time embedded software applications for guidance, navigation, and mission management.

Position Responsibilities :

  • Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle in an Agile development environment.

  • Develop solutions using Ada, C#, and Python.

  • Test your software and assist system level testing to verify correct software functionality.

  • Analyze problem reports and troubleshooting software defects.

  • Develop leadership skills and experience.

  • Opportunity to work directly with United States Air Force and Navy customers.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. (St. Charles, MO)

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience

  • 3+ years of experience with developing software using Object Oriented principles

  • 1+ years of experience in real-time embedded software development.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • Experience with Ada, Python, or C#

  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment.

  • Experience with Git or a similar version control system.

  • Experience developing and tracing software requirements.

  • Experience working in a team environment.

Typical Education/Experience :

Mid-level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g., PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g., PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation :

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Travel :

Occasional travel may be required.

Shift :

This position is for 1st shift.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only . Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for mid-level: $107,100 - $144,900

Summary pay range for senior level: $127,500 - $172,500
