We are in search of a diligent Sr. Accountant to join our team in Smithtown New York. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity of financial operations, producing timely financial reports, and supporting financial planning strategies. You will work closely with various stakeholders to guarantee the financial sustainability of our organization. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.

• Analyze finances to identify trends, variances, and avenues for cost savings and efficiency enhancements.

• Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with various department heads to develop feasible budgets.

• Monitor budget implementation and suggest corrective measures to manage variances.

• Prepare financial forecasts to aid in strategic planning.

• Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to protect the organization's assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.

• Ensure legal and accounting compliance with relevant regulatory and organizational policies.

• Manage the annual financial audit and coordinate with external auditors, addressing any issues noticed during the audit.

• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.

• Manage the organization's cash flow and optimize liquidity.

• Utilize skills such as Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Microsoft Excel, Month End Close, NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP in daily tasks

Requirements • Proficiency in key accounting skills including Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations

• Profound understanding and experience with General Ledger and Journal Entries

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel is required

• Experience in Month End Close procedures is essential

• Familiarity with accounting software like NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP

• Prior experience in a similar senior accounting role preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is a plus

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
