Operations Head/Senior Director of Clinical Lab Operations STL MO

Kelly Science and Clinical is currently recruiting for a qualified, full-time, permanent Senior Director of Clinical Laboratory Operations role. The position is in St. Louis, MO, and the need to fill this position is immediate.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the laboratory division's operational workflow to meet the objectives established by the organization's senior management team for daily operations in the Clinical and Biopharma Business Solutions

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency, quality and productivity

  • Develop and execute operational plans to achieve business targets and growth. Drive innovation in laboratory operations and processes

  • Manage and track work across lab teams to ensure deliverables are met on time and with high accuracy

  • Independently identify and execute on changes to improve workflow processes to consistently deliver exceptional customer service

  • Work closely with IT to identify and prioritize software enhancements in support of internal operations and external customer support

  • Collaborate with cross-functional lab, project management, and commercial teams

  • Report project statuses, quality metrics, and general feedback to senior laboratory leadership

  • Develop and manage budgets for the operational division.

  • Monitor financial performance of the clinical lab and Biopharma Business Solutions and implement cost-effective measures

  • Assist in the planning and oversight of CLIA lab facility expansions

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.

  • Manage external relationships and troubleshoot problems as they affect the CRO business

  • Work with laboratory staff, project management and clients to resolve operational or technical issues

  • Acting as primary liaison between the labs and project management within the company

  • Prepare for and help lead the transition into the FDA oversight of Lab Developed tests

  • Oversee implementation of IT initiatives including LIMS implementation

Qualifications/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD) preferred

  • Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience with expertise in areas of clinical lab and CRO operations development and strategic planning

  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of management experience

  • Exhibit strong technical knowledge of molecular biology and molecular testing laboratory practices (CLIA, CAP).

  • Ability to quickly learn and integrate new forms of technology

  • Consistently takes a proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills

  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope and timeline

  • Superior analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

  • Professional verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Lean methodologies, to streamline operations and improve overall efficiency

  • Lead Six Sigma projects and initiatives to achieve measurable improvements in operational performance

  • Leverage Black Belt expertise to train and mentor staff in Six Sigma practices

Pay: $180 – 190K/yr

Hours: Mon - Fri, 8A – 5P – this position is fully onsite
