In this role you will be responsible for executing and managing all aspects of food safety and quality related functions for a subset of our 18 facility-based operations. The position is responsible for execution of all corporate level food safety and quality programs at the assigned location(s) to comply with corporate needs and to meet all applicable regulatory compliance. The position will lead the comprehensive deployment and verification of systems and programs, and the effective use of Quality Tools, to drive compliance, risk elimination, and continuous improvement related to food safety and quality. This position can be based at the corporate offices in Bloomington, MN or can be a remote based position. Approximately 50% travel will be required. Responsibilities: + Assure the execution of, and adherence to the company’s quality and food safety programs, policies, and procedures through the management and oversight of Food Safety & Quality departments for facilities assigned. + Implement corporate FSQ Quality Management System strategies and Quality Continuous Improvement programs within our manufacturing facilities to ensure consistency across the organization and enhance facility performance to meet and exceed internal, customer, and regulatory standards. + Collaborate with key facility and corporate stakeholders to execute strategic Food Safety & Quality initiatives at assigned facilities to assure consistent achievement of designated metrics that demonstrate overall food safety program control. + Serve as a strategic leader at the manufacturing site level to lead continuous improvement, proactive / preventative, and growth initiatives as assigned by senior leadership to assure key company deliverables are implemented and maintained at the site level. + Function as quality subject matter expert and liaison to both corporate FSQ team members and exterior partners as assigned or required. + Maintains strong relationships with members of key customers, USDA, FDA, and other regulatory bodies as required. + Provide accurate and timely feedback to senior leadership on facility-based needs that will enable the consistent execution of the company food safety and quality systems that ensures food safety and high-quality product production. + Assure execution of the corporate based quality training program, while also identifying and communicating specific additional training gaps for assigned sites of responsibility. + Lead site resource development activities to retain, grow, and promote internal talent to provide a sustainable succession of food safety and quality talent within the department. + Plan, prepares and develop budgets as appropriate and applicable to site level department that reflect improved competitive advantage for the company. Preferred Qualifications: + Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or Biology, Master's degree preferred. + Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the food industry including quality assurance, food production, food safety and regulatory compliance, strategy and business plan development, team leadership and people development. + Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing. + Strong analytic and problem-solving abilities. + Advanced knowledge of food science and subject matter expertise on food safety & quality principles. + Understanding of domestic and international food regulations. + Demonstrated team leadership skills and project management experience. + Must have great collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively work closely with cross-functional teams. + USDA & FDA experience strongly preferred The employing subsidiaries of Schwan’s Company are Equal Employment Opportunity Employers.
