Midwest Special Services, Inc. Maintenance Assistant in Saint Paul, Minnesota

Description MSS is a private, nonprofit agency that has been serving adults with disabilities for over 70 years. We operate program centers throughout the Twin Cities area and provide community employment and day support services for adults with disabilities. The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Supervisor with the safe and efficient operation of all buildings owned or leased by the agency. Assists with maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems as needed. The Maintenance Assistant is also responsible for ensuring that buildings meet acceptable housekeeping standards and that the grounds are well maintained. Join Our Team and make a difference in the lives of others! Responsibilities: Work in collaboration with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure repair needs are reported and resolved. Maintain and assist in the repair of all electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. Participate in construction/remodeling projects as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor. Ensure grounds are well maintained lawn maintenance to include mowing, trimming, edging, watering, fertilizing, and trimming of trees and bushes. Keep sidewalks clear of snow and ice. Responsible for snow removal on sidewalks. Some light administrative responsibilities which may include ordering supplies, restocking supplies, and trash removal as needed. Open/Close buildings as assigned. Monitor buildings to ensure they meet safety standards. Be proactive in identifying, reporting, and correcting safety related issues. Provide assistance for building maintenance on weekends if needed. These tasks may include painting, stripping and waxing floors, roof snow removal, etc. Maintain the maintenance storage area in a clean and orderly fashion.
