The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is growing at a significant rate – doubling in capacity every year which is driving Oracle’s revenue growth. In 2023, OCI was named as a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Distributed Hybrid Infrastructure.

The Hardware Provisioning organization within OCI is re-architecting the provisioning layer so we can continue to scale our service to meet the demands of our exponential growth.

We are seeking a strong Principal Software Engineer who can help create the best and most secure System Software stack for the modern Cloud environment. Expertise in System Programming, Networking, C/C++, Python is highly desired.

Our team of highly capable Software Engineers spans multiple time zones and works in a DevOps model to deliver solutions that are core to Oracle's revenue growth.

The Hardware Provisioning organization delivers the System Software stack that manages and provisions the Server Infrastructure in OCI.

When a customer relinquishes a server in Oracle Cloud, that server must be securely re-provisioned with trusted firmware in all hardware components – Network, Storage, GPUs, and BMC. Further, our tools are also used by our factories when manufacturing servers to ensure they are provisioned with trusted firmware.

Join our dynamic team as a Principal Software Engineer and work on exciting, enterprise-grade Cloud Management products. Our unique team works on everything from user level applications and interfaces to low-level hardware interfaces and everything in between. We control the full software life cycle from architecture to release. Help shape the Cloud Management offerings for Oracle's Cloud Servers while working with some of the most talented and experienced software developers in the industry.

Specifically, you will contribute your talents and skills towards the design & development of secure Cloud Management software using industry standard System, Network and Storage Management protocols that are the foundation of Oracle's Cloud offering.

Our product development environment includes C/C++, Python, Java, Linux, and Embedded programming.

The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills and will be expected to use these skills to communicate with a geographically diverse team across many technology consumers.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new Hardware Provisioning products and features that are the foundation for OCI core services with a special emphasis on Networking products and protocols

  • Analyze the architecture, design and implementation of existing products with a focus on improving scalability, performance, extensibility and security

  • Interface with Oracle's customers to understand their needs and design and deliver novel solutions to address these needs

  • Debug and fix issues that are found in the OCI fleet

  • Work closely with our GPU, Network and Storage vendors to drive new requirements to meet performance and security goals

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS or higher degree in Computer Science or Equivalent

  • 8 or more years of professional experience designing, implementing, testing, releasing, and maintaining software applications and systems in C/C++ and/or Java/Python

  • Experience with entire product life cycle: Architecture, Design, Implement, Support

  • Operating System (LINUX and/or UNIX)

  • Experience with low level System Programming, and/or Embedded development, and/or Firmware development.

  • Experience with IO device sub system and PCIe System Architecture.

  • Experience with Network protocols and programming.

  • Experience with Storage Management protocols.

Other desired skills: GPU, System Security, Scripts, XML, JSON, and REST.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
