Job Description Position Overview The Manager of SCADA Engineering will report to the Director of SCADA Engineering and assume responsibility for the engineering, procurement, and commissioning of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, including the associated communications infrastructure for cutting-edge renewable energy and transmission projects. This leadership role entails coordination with various stakeholders to develop and implement complex communication system designs. The Manager's key responsibilities include defining and documenting control systems between substation devices, generation resources, transmission resources, remote operation centers, and other external entities. The Manager's responsibilities encompass supporting the design and implementation of SCADA and communication systems, ensuring smooth data connectivity across a broad range of projects. These projects include wind (onshore and offshore), solar, battery storage, and High Voltage Direct Current transmission projects. Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the SCADA engineering team
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and development of SCADA engineering staff
  • Develop specifications and scope of works for SCADA, power plant controller, RTU, & IT equipment networks and implementation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of SCADA systems with overall project requirements
  • Track design schedules, update all stakeholders and ensure that critical dates are met on time
  • Provide details on project requirements to procure necessary telecom services.
  • Manage the overall planning, direction, coordination, and execution of new OT systems
  • Provide strong, proactive, and assertive leadership for SCADA and PPC system completion
  • Monitor construction progress remotely and via on-site inspections. Support resolution of any field issues. Attend in-person meetings with stakeholders. Provide on-site programming and field support during commissioning.
  • Lead efforts with project team to develop operational plans to energize, commission, and turnover projects while maintaining NERC compliance.
  • Coordinate with independent engineers and project partners to effectively navigate the technical due diligence process.
  • Assist in the development of new projects by analyzing conceptual designs and RFP specifications.
  • Coordinate with operations engineering and third-party customers to incorporate lessons learned into new designs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry technology through various training sessions and conferences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related degree.
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of power generation SCADA and power plant control systems
  • Up to 25% travel required.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Skills:

  • Masters in Engineering preferred
  • Working knowledge of NERC compliance for low impact cyber systems.
  • Prior installation, commissioning, and site construction experience in renewable power generation.
  • Advanced knowledge and programming of SCADA, HMI, PLC, RTU platf rms.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
