Minnesota Children's Museum Traveling Exhibits Fabrication Intern in Saint Paul, Minnesota

The Traveling Exhibits Fabrication and Props Intern assists the Traveling Exhibits team in the fabrication of a new component, Floor is Lava, for the exhibit Dinosaurs: Land of Fire and Ice, to be created and implemented during its stay at MCM January-May 2025. Intern duties may also include assisting in loading in of the Dinos exhibit at MCM and maintenance on components and props. Projects vary depending on the project workflow for our department. PAY: $15.75 per hour plus free parking or bus pass SCHEDULE: Requires 140 hours during the internship session (10-12 hours per week). All hours will be completed on-site between Monday-Friday, 9AM-4PM. MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The exact duties and projects will be determined by mutual agreement of the intern and museum staff. All duties will be carried out with the direction and supervision of the Traveling Exhibits department. - Assist in Loading in/out traveling exhibit to MCM - Assist with fabrication and installation of Floor is Lava in the Dinosaurs: Land of Fire and Ice exhibit - Assist with fabrication of exhibit components - Clean, repair and maintain existing components and props - Other duties as assigned IDEAL CANDIDATE - Ability to organize time and work independently, follow directions and complete tasks in an effective manner. - Ability to concentrate in a busy work environment. - Skill in coordinating tasks and projects. - Thrives working within a team environment. - Knowledge or experience with basic sewing skills (hand stitching, sewing machine, etc.) is a plus. - Knowledge or experience with painting is a plus.
