You have come to the right place. GA Foods is seeking an experienced Assistant Production Manager to work for our team at our headquarters location in St. Petersburg, FL. This candidate will assist the Production Manager with production planning, scheduling, supervising full-time and temporary staff in high-volume, and leading a safe and productive work environment. The ideal Assistant Production Manager will be a skilled leader and decision maker with the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced, high-volume production setting. This individual must assist in creating a team-based environment encouraging open communication and seeking input regarding production, safety and quality issues from all levels of staff. Assistant Production Manager Responsibilities: Plan, communicate and monitor raw material needs per production demand Assist in the development of standard operating procedures for production duties Problem solve and implement solutions Evaluate, design and implement plans to increase productivity and efficiency Adhere to GMP's Participating in the formulation and/or approval of short- and long-term operating objectives in areas such as cost reduction, quality improvement, new product development and/or integration as undertaken at the plant level Remain current on matters relating to production methods, formulations, analytical techniques and federal regulations as they relate to the company's products Develop action plans for improvement as necessary Perform special projects and responsibilities as needed Providing effective direction and coordination of all assigned operational activities Leading and assuring a safe working environment and compliance with Food Safety Standards Complete administrative tasks and documentation as required Providing leadership of continuous improvement processes Assistant Production Manager Qualifications: Minimum of three years of supervisory experience and demonstrate the ability to lead, manage and build a team while creating a positive work environment Bachelor's Degree in related field is preferred Good computer skills including MS Office with the ability to learn new programs Knowledge of Food Safety programs and USDA regulations is preferred Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of associates and teams Proven analytical and decision-making skills, able to identify problems; apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify root cause Be able to work weekend and off shift hours as required Experience with production systems and processes Detail-oriented with good organizational skills, ability to multi-task effectively, be proactive and self-directed while using effective delegation and follow-up skills Opened-minded and receptive to change. Support the goals and initiatives of management and be a team player willing to assist in any area Capability and willingness to continue to develop and broaden an extensive knowledge of relevant areas of expertise Working Conditions Physical Demands Refrigerated food manufacturing plant Lifting, kneeling, and bending with packages in excess of 50 lbs Production demands may require evening or weekend scheduling Amount of Time Under 1/3: Sit, Use hands to finger/handle/feel, Reach with hands and arms 1/3 to 2/3: Stand, Walk, Talk or hear Over 2/3: See Under 1/3: weight lifting/exertion up to 50 lbs.
