TEKsystems Telecommunications Transport Engineer in Salisbury, Maryland
Description
Our client provides broadband and backhaul capacity to ISPs allowing internet access on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. They are a carrier/telecommunications company. This candidate will be a jack of all trades and will be asked to wear a few different hats.
There is very little routing or complex configurations. This candidate will need to be able to take the specs and set up the equipment to meet the need and then troubleshoot issues. This will not be a super fast-paced environment but it will require in-depth understanding.
The networking department plays a pivotal role in ensuring project efficiency, design, stand up, solutioning and maintenance. Utilizing specialized equipment, techniques, and software they accurately determine circuit stand up, building circuit IDs, port tagging, lay switch install, server/switch language, transport carrier equipment, and loopback circuit testing. Ciena is the main platform for all network procedures, testing, and duties including but not limited to Infinera transport gear, Flopoint, Vetro mapping, NCS circuit ID management, EXFO gear, etc.

Testing and Inspection of equipment (New circuits and old circuits as needed)

DC Power Rectifiers & Wiring
Battery Wiring
Fiber Management
Labeling & Documentation
Grounding & Bonding
Alarm & Monitoring Wiring
Copper/ Ethernet Wiring
Shoot fiber/OTDR testing is a plus
Gateway or level 3 experience is a plus
Top Skills Details
5+ years of install, provisioning, circuit stand up, and layer 1/2 support in Ciena 6500 (preferred/Ciena shop) and/or Cisco/relatable environment.
Strong ability to test (RFC), troubleshoot, and solution communication with carrier transport network equipment.
Stakeholder communication, forward thinking, business development, and IT equipment recommendations.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $72.00
