VCBO Architecture (www.vcbo.com) is seeking an ARCHITECT II to join our Salt Lake City office.

General Duties: 

As an Architect II, you will:

Evaluate, select and apply architectural and design methods with responsibility for project assignments including programming, design development, and coordination and production construction documents on projects which may be multiple, large or complex in scope. 

Qualifications

Will possess experience working on a variety of projects, including programming, conceptual design, schematic design, and design development as well as experience in preparing drawings for the schematic design and design development.  Experience in preparing preliminary design studies and adaptations of alternatives for review, contract documents including details, sections, elevations, and schedules.  Demonstrate advanced understanding and application of design practices, theories, and methods.  Understand overall building design concepts, objectives, and critical issues and apply knowledge to tasks and assignments.  Can respond to the technical implications of design decisions.  Facilitate firm and project goals of excellence in design, execution, and sustainability.  Will evaluate and integrate engineering systems into the overall project.    

  • Masters of Architecture preferred

  • 7-10 years of experience as an architect

  • Licensed Architect desired but not required

  • Experience with K-12 or related preferred

  • Basic computer and internet skills are required

  • Strong Knowledge in Revit, Sketchup, Rhino, LEED AP, Adobe Suite, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Experience managing others along with excellent verbal and communication skills, self-motivation, and flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple projects in various stages of development  

  • Experience in compiling data, performing elementary design computations, performs area calculations according to specified standards

  • Knowledge of building codes

  •  Able to complete the permitting process with the aid and supervision of a Team Leader

  • Knowledge of addenda and construction change directive procedures

  • The ability to review and respond to submittal and RFI documentation with sufficient knowledge and understanding of the project and industry

  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
