Job Summary

Candidate will focus on new approaches for the analysis of transcriptome and DNA sequencing data from single tumor cells, circulating tumor cells, and matching tumors and circulating DNA to enable new discoveries in patients under multiple contexts. We seek someone with experience in data analysis who is excited about generating new biological insights by applying existing methods to new datasets, and by developing novel approaches for analyzing and integrating these data.

The candidate is expected to contribute towards design and implementation of algorithms to analyze the data and integrate it with outcome of clinical trials. The hired candidate will also be involved in development of in-house tools needed for interactive visualization and analyses. The candidate will also help in maintenance, support, and documentation of computational tools, pipeline, code repository, and generated datasets. As the computational infrastructure evolves, this position is likely to present diverse and flexible opportunities.

Essential Functions

1. Analysis of data from high throughput sequencing and microarray experiments.

2. Create, maintain, and document computer software for data analysis and management.

3. Assist researchers with the design of genomic experiments.

4. Instruct personnel in collaborating labs in the use of analysis methods and tools.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s of Science degree with a focus on Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science or Molecular Biology or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); plus four years of experience in genomic data analysis required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Software development experience in object oriented programming using Java, Python, and or C++ and familiarity with molecular biology, genomics and some biostatistics helpful.

Master of Science degree or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science and/or Life Sciences preferred.

This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Preferences

Ph.D. in bioinformatics, genetics, statistics, mathematical, or computer science or a related discipline with significant experience in computer programming and computational biological applications and a minimum of 6 years of related experience in the field or related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required.

Coding experience in python and/or R along with familiarity in unix/linux environment is required. Deep knowledge on application and development of statistical methods for analyses of high-throughput dataset is a plus.

Practical experience in next-generation sequencing data analysis

Experience with biological data, especially cancer genetics.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to perform both self-directed and guided research Outstanding personal initiative and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Ability to meet deadlines and efficiently multitask is a must.
