The successful candidate for Campus Architect will demonstrate an ability to think critically, work well with others, and be organized, collaborative and innovative.The Campus Architect will help communicate a clear vision for the physical campus, working with project teams for new construction, renovation, maintenance and other modifications to buildings, grounds, and other infrastructure. For major construction projects this includes participation in feasibility studies and throughout the design and construction process. Communicating campus vision and standards is critical in workshops, site reviews, construction document reviews, in Owner-Architect-Contractor meetings, etc.The Campus Architect will also act as the Universitys Cultural Resource Manager. The Campus Architect works as part of project teams and is responsible for ensuring legal compliance with state and federal regulations relating to cultural resource management. Tasks include evaluating known and potential historical/cultural resources; field investigations (when necessary) with documenting and reporting results; reviewing consultants work; and making determinations of eligibility and effect according to Utah Code 9-8-404 and National Historic Preservation Act Section 106. This requires effective communication with project managers, department leaders, University Facilities personnel, consultants, state and federal agencies, the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), and members of the public. The ability to respond to multiple evolving projects in a schedule-oriented environment is essential.
