ARUP Laboratories Clinical Hematopathologist - NGS in Salt Lake City, Utah

Schedule: PRN working 12 hours per pay periodSchedule is flexible.Position will be remote.Limited onsite training may be required.Rotating holiday and weekend coverage required.

Primary Purpose :

The Clinical Hematopathologist is responsible for the review, interpretation, and reporting (sign-out) of NGS cases. This position is a remote position.

Essential Functions :

Function as a peer member of the medical community.

Utilize, interpret, and correlate laboratory and clinical data, serving as a consultant to clinical practitioners and other laboratory users.

NGS analysis including variant interpretation, clinical report drafting, and run/sample level QC review

Serving as a consultant to clinical practitioners and other laboratory users.

Provide occasional consultation with client physicians

Ensure that laboratory test data is accurate, timely, and informative.

Ensure that laboratory test data is accurate, reviewed in a timely manner, and reports are clearly written and informative. Reports may require editing of standard templates and generation of unique reports.

Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement activities--including, but not limited to, all applicable Proficiency Testing surveys and Peer-Review--which can identify and resolve any technical problems related to laboratory testing methods and result reporting processes.

As a part of Strategic Planning and Quality Improvement processes, develop and implement actions to meet organizational goals.

Assure compliance with all applicable regulations and certifications.

Participate in external and internal regulatory inspections as needed.

Participate in Quarterly Mandatory Education and departmental NGS and Molecular meetings.

Project the organization’s mission, image and business philosophy in all interactions with clients, potential clients and others outside of the organization.

Comply with all ARUP policies and procedures, including safety and biohazard regulations.

Maintain strict confidence and security for all information. Maintain high ethical standards.

Other duties as assigned.

Physical and Other Requirements :

Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Communicate: Frequently communicate with others.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.

Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Qualifications

Education

Required

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or better

Experience

Required

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) licensed to practice medicine in the state in which they reside

  • Completion of a US residency program in pathology and fellowship in hematopathology

  • ABPATH Pathology – Clinical and Hematopathology certifications

  • Five (5) years of experience in Clinical Genetics data interpretation; specifically in NGS methodologies

  • Obtain and maintain specific state licenses, if applicable

Preferred

  • Ten (10) years of experience in Clinical Genetics data interpretation; specifically in NGS methodologies

  • Hold or be eligible for a New York Certificate of Qualification
