  • 9/80, 1st shift (schedule: Mon-Fri; 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 40 hrs)

    L3Harris’ Communication Systems segment is currently seeking an Engineering Technician C to join our team. This position will be based at our Salt Lake City, Utah facility.

    Position Overview

    Skilled and experienced engineering technician responsible to assist in assembly evaluation, and subsequent process implementation. Supports development of manufacturing concepts, techniques, and assembly aids for engineering prototypes, first time builds, rework, and customer returns. Verifies initial assembly processes can be effectively transitioned to general manufacturing operations.

    Essential Functions:

  • New product manufacturing technique development, supporting Rapid Prototype and Process Engineering

  • Engineering first time, or initial build, assembly materials and process tool evaluation

  • Mentor use of assembly aids

  • Support product noncompliance evaluations and implementation of corrective actions

  • Validate manufacturing process flow, support updates as needed

  • Verify new manufacturing technologies in process of transitioning from concept to practical application

  • Assess basic product failures, and documentation, to determine how to best correct the noncompliance

  • Implement MPE and Design Engineering directions, in unison with identifying hurdles to be further evaluated prior to releasing to general manufacturing

  • Provide recommendations for improved manufacturability

  • Evaluate products to determine manufacturing complexity and assembly skillset needed

  • Ensure daily throughput goals are achieved, while maintaining utilization, operation costs, and quality targets

  • Works under limited supervision

  • Works to achieve operational targets within job area which has moderate impact on the overall achievement of results for the team

  • A resource to other employees in areas of expertise

    Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Basic understanding of mechanical assembly and quality acceptance processes

  • Technical and operational knowledge of assembling highly technical devices, with hands-on experience

  • Knowledgeable and able to interpret drawings and process specifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PCs is required

  • Working knowledge of SAP and/or equivalent enterprise management software

  • Experience with first time assembly, prototype development and engineering product transition
