Flexan Facilities & Maintenance Manager in Salt Lake City, Utah

JOB DESCRIPTION: T he Facilities & Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing all maintenance services for Flexan including the design, planning, construction, and maintenance of equipment, machinery, building, and other facilities. The position plans, budgets, and schedules facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor materials, and other related costs.  The Facilities & Maintenance Manager is responsible for the scheduling of operations for corrective and preventative maintenance functions to supervisees. Additional duties include safety initiative oversight, partnering with operations management and teams, and other projects as assigned.

KEY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible of maximizing – UP / RUN TIME of all Flexan Productive Equipment

  • Responsible for Overall Effectiveness of Equipment Metric - OEE% on the factory.

  • Leader in the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance program in the plan and an “autonomous maintenance Program” in Flexan.

  • Conduct – Risk Assessment Evaluation in all new and production equipment to ensure safety in all machines in Flexan.

  • Oversees the coordination of building space allocation and layout, facility changes and expansion, and communication of building changes

  • Prepares facilities for changing weather conditions

  • Plans, budgets, and schedules facility modifications, including cost estimates.

  • Manages the maintenance department for Injection Molding Tooling Dies or any other production asset.

  • Promotes safety throughout Flexan, reviews safety walks, and makes improvements or suggestions

  • Conducts and documents regular facilities inspections

  • Ensures plant equipment is safe and in good working condition, plans and coordinates all installations and refurbishments

  • Inspects construction and installation progress for new production lines

  • In the event of equipment failure, responds to maintenance work orders expediently to minimize downtime or substandard equipment performance

  • Diagnoses, trouble-shoots and prioritizes plant and equipment problems

  • Aids in procurement and purchasing of supplies and repair parts required by maintenance. Stock and maintains an inventory of key supplies and repair parts to minimize downtime

  • Provides training in care and repair of maintenance equipment (e.g., hand and power tools, lathe, band saw, milling machine, etc.) to maintenance personnel

  • Runs preventative maintenance program (e.g., lubrication schedules, oil change schedules, inspection [i.e., level reading] checklists, and filter or seal-changing schedules)

  • Monitor employee’s work against goals, providing appropriate praise, feedback, and corrections to ensure quality work is performed

  • Supervises all facilities staff and external contractors.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • BS or associate degree with technical training in plant engineering or factory/plant maintenance preferred; HS education minimum; specialized degree or study in mechanics
  • Minimum of three to five years of progressive experience and responsibility in a maintenance field and in a manufacturing environment

  • Must have mechanical and electrical experience

  • Excellent knowledge of powered Maintenance equipment (Lathe, Band Saw, Milling Machine, etc.), manual and powered material handling equipment, and hand and power tools

  • Experience with 6 Sigma/LEAN manufacturing practices desired

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

    Physical Demands:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen/hear, walk, reach/lift and move supplies, tools, equipment, and machinery.

    Work Environment:

    • Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and shop environments and is regularly exposed to dust, odors, fumes, and noise.
