Job Description:

Incumbent will oversee the daily Wastewater Pre-treatment System operation, collection of hazardous waste, dispensing/disposal of bulk solvents, and any other projects as specified by the Sr. Director of Operations. Commitment to safety, quality, customer service, and efficiency is required. The ability to communicate across multiple organizational boundaries and disciplines is critical, including management of personnel on multiple shifts. The Facilities Technician D is responsible for working to establish a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations related to wastewater pre-treatment/sampling and reporting requirements, hazardous waste storage/disposal, preparing submitting associated reports and record maintenance

Essential Functions:

  • Schedules vendors to perform facility related repairs and installations, to include plumbing, roofing, and air compressor maintenance.

  • Recharges the Alar Filter Aid Mixer as required.

  • Empty all Satellite Accumulation Points (SAP) (red cans), daily, in buildings 1 & 2 and place debris in the hazardous debris compactor. Make certain that all SAP labels are in good/legible condition, replace as necessary.

  • Compact debris, in the hazardous debris compactor, after all SAPs have been collected. When disposing of hazardous debris and/or wastewater sludge, make certain that the hazardous waste label, which is affixed to each roll off is in good/legible condition, and that it displays the correct accumulation date, replace as necessary. The hazardous waste label must be replaced each time the roll off is returned from the Treatment Storage and Disposal Facility (TSDF).

  • Collect silver recyclable debris from satellite accumulation points (red cans) in Electroding and place in 55 gal drums in the 90 Day Flammable Hazardous Waste Storage Area. Make certain all drum lids are properly bolted and secure. All drums containing silver debris must be properly identified with a hazardous waste label. When collecting the silver debris make certain that all SAP labels are in good/legible condition, replace as necessary.

  • Dispose of dry sludge, from accumulation drums, in the appropriate roll off and record the amount of sludge disposed of in the Wastewater Sludge Disposal Log. When disposing of the Wastewater Sludge make certain that the roll off’s hazardous waste label is in good/legible condition, replace as necessary. Additionally, replace the hazardous waste label each time the roll off is returned from the Treatment Storage and Disposal Facility (TSDF).

  • When waste materials, such as ceramic powder, ceramic parts, crucibles, or oil, are moved from Ceramic Production to the 90 Day Hazardous Waste Storage Area make certain that all drums are properly labeled with a hazardous or non-hazardous waste label as is applicable.

  • Inspect “off spec “ceramic SAPs and dispose when drums become half full and record drum weight in log. Make certain that the SAP label is in good/legible condition, replace as necessary.

  • Inspect crucible SAPs and dispose of in the appropriate roll off when drums become full. Record weight in log. Make certain that the SAP labels are in good/legible condition, replace as necessary.

  • Check all solvent drums in the bulk solvent storage area, both virgin and waste, for bonding and grounding cables.

  • Check bulk solvent storage area for any leaking drums.

  • Make certain that all tools are properly stored and that drums are closed, i.e., lever lock, bolted or bungs in place and tightened.

  • Spray down Wastewater Area and clean up any debris.

  • Weigh sludge and paper roll from Grinding. Empty sludge and/or paper roll from the Grinding FilterTech System into the appropriate roll off.

  • Inspect solvent storage in all Production areas. Replenish virgin solvent as needed. Dispose of waste solvent when safety containers become two thirds full. Record all solvents disposed and dispensed.

  • All waste solvents and oils moved from Production to the 90 Flammable Hazardous Waste Storage Area, or 90 Day Hazardous Waste Storage Area must be transferred into an appropriate steel or poly drum.

  • All expired materials from either Stores or Acoustic Production will be stored in either the 90 Day Hazardous Waste or 90 Day Flammable Hazardous Waste Storage areas, in the appropriate cages.

  • Collects and submits Wastewater Pre-treatment samples, monthly.

  • Submits monthly Self-Monitoring Report to Central Valley Water Reclamation as required.

  • Submits waste inventory to Clean Harbors Environmental a week prior to the scheduled monthly hazardous waste pick-up.

  • Maintains all hazardous waste storage areas.

  • Assembles and loads all hazardous waste shipments.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).

  • Must be eligible to obtain both State and Federal, DOT, Haz Wop, RCRA certifications.

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience

  • 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • SAP Plant Maintenance experience is a plus

  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of data into SAP

  • Maintain data records in SAP and record changes as they occur

  • Review upcoming PMs in SAP to schedule vendor support/Service

  • Review on hand parts/supplies to complete repairs/service
