Job Summary
The Front Desk Supervisor works with the goal of delivering a high-quality patient experience to the School of Dentistry Wakara Clinic. Strong focus on oversight of front desk team performance, clinic staff support, training, and leadership.

Essential Functions
Responsible for the onsite supervision of the School of Dentistry Wakara Clinic front desk.
Provides on-site support for team members and fills in for team members as needed.
Monitors and models the appropriateness and effectiveness of customer service standards within the department in order to deliver outstanding service to both internal and external customers.
Ensures competency of front desk staff through the development and/or presentation of educational programs and through on going staff performance evaluations.
Oversees recruitment, training, orientation, and professional development of staff in support of accomplishing clinical goals and mission.
Collaborates with clinical leadership on performance analysis and goal setting.
Collaborates with clinical leadership on best practices and policies.
Collaborates with clinical leadership on new strategic initiatives and business opportunities.
Participates in University-wide committees to establish customer service standards and administrative plans and policies.
Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through.
Schedules complex and specialty patient appointments for the Wakara Clinic.
Responsible for ordering supplies and managing equipment needs for the front desk.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Extensive knowledge of dental treatment workflows, and the ability to provide care as described in the School of Dentistry department’s policies and procedures manual.
Outstanding leadership skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of dental clinic operations and billing.
Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
Ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes.
Able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Ability to develop relationships with patients, faculty, staff, and students
Problem Solving
Often selects from a predetermined list of alternatives and sometimes recommends or changes policy and procedure based upon amount of discretion given by department. Problems would be referred to superior based upon predetermined guidelines set by the department.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required.
Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.
