Junior Full-Stack Developer Position

The Office of the State Auditor seeks a qualified candidate to work as a Full-Stack Developer. Our office provides Utah taxpayers and government officials with an independent assessment of financial operations,statutory compliance,and performance management for state and local government. We make recommendations to improve the effectiveness of programs and the efficiency of operations. To accomplish this,we develop and maintain complex information systems and dashboards to provide transparency to the public,auditors,and researchers. These dashboards may include working with Financial,Geographic,Health,FERPA,or other protected data audited by the State of Utah.
Job Description: This position will provide assistance and advanced knowledge in both maintaining and building web applications. You will collaborate closely with our team of developers and engineers to enhance and maintain our existing projects while also contributing to the development of new initiatives.
Applicants must have a variety of skills,including:
- At least two years of experience developing full-stack applications:
- Writing modern HTML,CSS,and JavaScript.
- PHP
- Python (Flask,Pandas)
- Database design and management,including being up on the latest practices and associated versions. (Big Query,Postgres,Firestore).
- Server management and deployment for the relevant environment
- Docker containerization of dashboards
- Web Security Best Practices (SQL Injection,Cross-Site Scripting,etc.)
- Experience in both building and deploying R Shiny dashboards is preferred,but not required for this role.
- Know how to use CLIs and work on Linux machines (ssh/remote).
- Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment* (*GitHub & Google Cloud Build preferred).
- Writing code in various software programs to interact with databases and information systems containing financial,healthcare,or geographical data.
- Communicating information and ideas clearly,and concisely,in writing,reading,and understanding information presented in writing.
- Establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with employees,representatives of governments,and the public.
- This position requires a four-year college degree or equal experience in computing,computer science,statistics,mathematics,or related field.
Responsibilities in this position will include the following:
- Maintains successful operation of production cloud databases and applications
- Builds new dashboards,databases,and applications
- Cleans,analyzes,and summarizes data; conducts statistical analysis and interprets results.
- Works independently to execute projects as assigned.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Salary: $31 to $50/ hour,depending on experience. Compensation includes comprehensive health,dental,and retirement benefits. The Office may allow a flexible schedule.
