BioFire Diagnostics, LLC. Materials Handler Team Lead in Salt Lake City, Utah
Position Summary:
Perform work in compliance with all cGMP, ISO, and FDA regulations in addition to company policy and safety guidelines. Expert in the physical movement, support, and administrative tasks involved in receiving, shipping, storing, and support of all material types. Specifically in material replenishment support of Manufacturing. This role will also be responsible for the real time electronic transactions in various Warehouse Management software. Exemplify high proficiency of lean manufacturing and good housekeeping principles and 6S. Oversees day-to-day workflow with assigned group of Material Handlers. Responsible for additional leadership and duties in the absence of supervisors and/or managers.
Primary Duties:
Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of bioMérieux’s Quality System.
Ensure accuracy of incoming deliveries to make sure all ordered material meets quality standards.
Receive, quantify, and store incoming material with warehouse equipment from various delivery sources.
Monitor and adjust Kanban levels and request inventory replenishment as needed.
Document orders, materials, and any stock movements.
For Reagent teams, update break down instructions, clean, organize, and prep raw material ready for manufacturing in accordance with procedure and production requirements.
Perform related transactions, bin maintenance, and maintain shelving for the stocking of material.
Perform real time daily replenishment of material in a “Just in Time” manner to support internal customers.
Process all deliveries to ensure material transactions occur for all departmental activities.
Perform high level of accuracy with logging, labeling, tracking, and entering material lot information into Warehouse Management software, with minimal errors.
Understand the NCR process and assist in the actions for non-conforming material.
Identify errors, troubleshoot, and problem solve at an expert level.
Demonstrate aptitude to perform work autonomously with minimal to no oversight.
Identify areas that need improvement within the department and implement solutions.
Demonstrate and communicate safety guidelines and awareness.
Observe and ensure Materials Handlers performs according to WID standards.
Ability to perform cross functional job duties at multiple Material Management locations.
Assist leadership in collaboration with all departments to accomplish company goals.
Assist supervisors with internal and external communication.
Assist in training and mentoring junior material handlers, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance their skills and performance.
Act as a subject matter expert for complex material handling processes and procedures.
A ssist in the implementation of Ka izen projects in assigned area.
Mentor Material Handlers and oversee daily tasks and stand ups.
Participate and lead in monthly Leadership Meetings.
Practice and mentor material handlers in lean manufacturing, good manufacturing practices ( cGMP) , and 6S.
Follow all general OSHA Safety Guidelines for warehouses.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supplemental Duties:
Exemplify professionalism and collaborative interpersonal communication with internal and external customers.
Ensure continuous compliance with applicable training including but not limited to Work Instruction Documents.
Demonstrate expert level awareness of safety protocol within work environment.
In the event a job function requires the use of a company vehicle, a valid Driver’s License is required.
Experience, Training and Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Internal requirement: A minimum of 2 years within the Material Management department at bioMérieux is preferred.
External requirement: 3 years in a leadership role with relevant inventory, warehouse, shipping and/or, receiving experience.
A combination of applicable leadership and/or work experience may be considered in lieu of the aforementioned experience.
Materials handling experience within the medical device industry, including working with the FDA regarding control of materials for instruments and chemistry is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to work in warehouse conditions with long periods of standing, climbing, bending, walking, and reaching in wide temperature ranges. High level of repetitive motion. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to operate material handling equipment. Overtime may be required. The work is fast paced and must be able to work under pressure.
