Intermountain Health Patient Service Representative Billing in Salt Lake City, Utah
Job Description:
Shift is M-F 8am-5pm. We follow the Intermountain Holiday Schedule. The position will be remote with the exception of in person trainings.
Provides Extraordinary Care to patients and customers through friendly, caring, courteous, and professional service. This position is responsible for effective billing, problem solving, and maintenance of financial computer records of all patients. Acts as an advocate for the patient and follows Intermountain policies and procedures for billing and account management.
Job Essentials
Performs daily billing edits - electronic functions and/or prepares paper bills for submission. Assures that billing is accurate so as not to delay payments. Maintains the hospital's integrity by assuring that claims meet all compliance regulations.
Bills secondary insurance as contracted.
Communicates with other hospital departments (ie, HIM) to resolve billing errors in a timely manner.
Submits claims and data to insurance carriers.
Performs account analysis for claim acceptance, rejection, or denied claims from carriers to ensure proper insurance payments were received. Corrects rejections in a timely manner to ensure claim resolution.
Maintains performance standards that have been determined reasonable for position, including working daily reports.
Uses appropriate follow up methods on all action items assigned by the Customer Service Reps within an appropriate timeframe.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of customer service experience.
Demonstrated good communication and computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
Experience in admitting, billing, collection, and/or insurance verification.
Bi-lingual Spanish speaking.
Demonstrated knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 codes.
Physical Requirements:
Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information.
Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
See and read computer monitors and documents.
Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$17.34 - $22.54
