State of Utah - Jobs Performance Auditor in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is looking for a dynamic candidate to join the Internal Audit Division as a Performance Auditor (Auditor III). You will perform the following related assignments,financial reviews,internal control testing,funding verification,inventory assessments,and federal compliance audits. You will plan,coordinate,and lead audit engagements under the direction of the Audit Director. You will need to be successful with minimal supervision with a sense of self-motivation in meeting deadlines. Principle Duties As a Performance Auditor,you will:

  • Lead and conducts audits (i.e. determine the nature,scope and direction of the audit; review and analyze available information,identify potential issues,schedule audits,prepare audit work papers,reports,summaries,etc.).
  • Work in teams,manage multiple projects,and meet expected deadlines.
  • Facilitate,review,summarize,and present on the agency wide enterprise risk assessment.
  • Analyze,summarize and/or review data; report findings,interpret results and/or make recommendations.
  • Write or draft correspondence,reports,documents and/or other written materials.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws,regulations,and/or agency rules,standards and guidelines,etc.
  • Conduct special investigations and fraud hotline allegations with appropriate levels of confidentiality.
  • Plan and manage projects and/or programs. Write (or discuss) project/program plan(s),recommendation(s) and/or finding(s).
  • Provide assistance and/or on-the-job training.
  • Lead project staff: delegate work assignments,monitor/review quality of work,schedule staff,provide technical assistance or training,and/or provide input on performance appraisal,hiring and discipline.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate The best candidate for this position will have:

  • At least two years of audit/compliance,contract compliance,conducting reviews,or other closely related experience. 
  • A Bachelor s degree,or higher,in a related field from an accredited university (or equivalent experience). 
  • Previous experience in project management and working in team environments.  
  • A current or prior auditing or accounting designation. 

This position may be filled through an underfill as an Auditor II for those who are lacking the ideal candidate criteria listed above. Salary Ranges Most offers for the position are made within the first half of the range (up to midpoint) depending on prior experience and work history. Auditor III: $26.02 - $50.53 Auditor II: $22.61- $45.35 Preferences Preference may be given to those with at least one of the following:

  • Experience with state contracts,government accounting processes,and federal grant requirements.
  • Experience with data mining,data analysis,report writing. 
  • Government contracting requirements.
  • Background in research and project management.

  • Ability to work with others and build positive relationships with others. 
  • Ability to wo rk in a project-based environment with little supervision. 
  • Knowledge of government operations and funding processes.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls. 

Supplemental Information Here is some information of which you should be aware:

  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid of both in-office and remote work days or fully remote after an initial train ng period. Remote work must be within Utah. Please note,a position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason. 
  • The selected candidate will need to have adequate office space at home to protect sensitive data and duplicate a work place environment to meet a standard office setting.
  • This position requires periodical travel throughout the State.
  • May hire up to mid-range for the position depending on prior experience and work history.
  • Working Conditions: Risks found in the typical office setting,which is adequately lighted,heated and ventilated,e.g.,safe use of office equipment,avoiding trips and falls,observing fire regulations,etc.
  • Physical Requirements: Typically,the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however,there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile,etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
