Job Summary

The Neuromechanics and Applied Locomotion Laboratory and the Vision Audition and Action in Space and Time ( VAAST ) Laboratory at the University of Utah are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate to work on a funded research study investigating the effects of concussions on spatial navigation and sensorimotor integration using virtual reality. The postdoctoral fellow will work under the direct supervision of Drs. Sarah Creem-Regehr and Peter Fino, and in close collaboration with faculty in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and other faculty in Health & Kinesiology, Psychology, and Physical Therapy & Athletic Training.

The position will stay open until filled. The funding for this position is available for 2 years, and may be renewed for additional years pending the availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with experience and the NIH post-doctoral salary scale.

Requirements:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline, such as psychology, kinesiology, biomechanics, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, or rehabilitation science

Responsibilities

  • Programming experience (Unity, MATLAB , Python, R)

  • Familiarity with virtual reality (VR) and / or augmented reality (AR) environments

  • Experience conducting human subject research in populations with impaired neuromuscular control

  • A track record of journal publications and/or demonstrated interest in cognitive neuroscience, sensorimotor function, neuromuscular control of movement, locomotion, postural control, biomechanics, concussions, or brain injury

  • Knowledge and ability to independently implement statistical analyses

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to excel in both team and individual environments

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
