Job Title:  Restoration Coordinator - Jordan River Job Description: Are you interested in guiding regional vegetation and habitat restoration and conservation initiatives around Utah's Jordan River? Are you a self-starter who can take initiative and independently lead projects from start to finish?  Do you have experience with land management and restoration? Are you looking for a diverse and challenging job involving fieldwork,partner coordination,curating best practices,and managing projects? Then you could be the Restoration Coordinator we are looking for. The Division of Forestry,Fire and State Lands is hiring a joint position in partnership with the Jordan River Commission,to develop,coordinate,and implement Jordan River weed management and vegetation and habitat restoration efforts. Principal Duties:

  • Enhance existing relationships through collaboration using all available mediums to manage and mitigate invasive species.
  • Apply advanced and/or specialized knowledge of agency,interagency,and industry business practices to implement and guide vegetation and habitat restoration projects on public lands Identify needs and prioritize cooperative efforts.
  • Make recommendations for the prioritization of funds,implement budgets,and track allocations and expenditures for an annual budget for vegetation control and restoration. 
  • Collaborate with researchers to establish and promote best management practices
  • Coordinate with partners and stakeholders to leverage funding and efforts.
  • Plan and manage vegetation treatments Monitor,track,and report project and program successes.
  • Assist with or develop grant proposals,comprehensive reports,drafting leases,agreements,and contracts as specified by agency protocol for vegetation control and restoration.
  • Administer grant fund program and receive grant funding for project work.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience with land management and project coordination across multiple jurisdictional boundaries.
  • Experience with creating budgets and managing funding.
  • Experience facilitating stakeholder engagement and/or public meetings. 
  • Experience managing contracts and intergovernmental agreements.
  • Experience managing and maintaining vehicles and equipment including small engines,tractors,trailers,and other off road vehicles.
  • Experience with mechanical and chemical weed treatments.
  • Experience coordinating and managing support staff and volunteers. 
  • Experience obtaining permits and coordinating regulatory requirements.
  • Experience as a self-starter with the ability to plan,develop and implement complex projects independently from start to finish with minimal supervision.
