We are looking for a Senior Scheduler - Minerals to be a key member of the Mine Scheduling and Projects team. The responsibility of this role will be to support the development of short-range mine plans and strategies to maximize value of the Kennecott Open Pit Mine and mitigate business risk. The key deliverable for this role is actively collaborate with multiple stakeholders across the value stream as the Senior Engineer of the Mine Scheduling team to facilitate best practice in the teams' development of mine plans and production scheduling. Reporting to the Manager - Mine Scheduling and Projects, your functions will include: * Directly lead a team of engineers; guiding their work and support their development. * Utilize mine planning and scheduling tools to create optimal mine designs and schedules. * Evaluate the success of mining plans through effective reconciliation. * Working with the Concentrator schedulers, Ore Body Knowledge and Integrated Operations teams to optimize the Ore delivery and processing strategies. * Work with Operational teams, Geotechnical, Hydrology and Geology personnel to assure safe and optimal mine designs and plans. * Effectively communicate mine plans to several groups at varying level of detail via presentations, written methods and face to face communication. * Communicate with management on progress of the 2week plan and highlight opportunities and risks. What you'll bring To be successfully considered for this role, you will have: * S. Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent * 5+ years' experience working in a large open pit mine environment as a mine planner or similar role * Ability to understand and communicate technical problems. * Requires reasoning and critical thinking. * Ability to solve and communicate technical problems with practical solutions. * Ability to work in cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure mine plans are integrated across ore body knowledge and the business * Experience working on technical mining projects * Requires a proven ability to operate independently and in small multi-discipline teams. * Excellent planning, time organization, and problem-solving skills a must. * Record of strong safety performance and familiarity with implementing established safety systems.
