University of Utah Health Sr. Software Quality Assurance Analyst in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

This position is responsible for planning, implementing, leading, and executing all aspects of quality and testing. The incumbent requires hands-on QA expertise and the ability to take initiative, develop and evolve our QA processes, and define and track quality assurance metrics such as defects and open defect counts. Familiar with Microsoft Windows, MacOS, iOS and Android environments.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with product and engineering to establish and evolve formal QA processes, ensuring that the team is using industry-accepted best practices.

  • Oversees all aspects of quality assurance including establishing metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met.

  • Acts as key point of contact for all QA aspects of releases, providing QA services and coordinating QA resources internally and externally.

  • Leads and mentors QA team members, as well as manage outside contract testers.

  • Develops and executes test cases, scripts, plans and procedures (manual and automated).

  • Driven to automate your processes and document your work.

  • Responsible for analyzing test data, generating reports, and providing insights into the overall quality of a software product.

  • Review and analyze test results to identify patterns, trends, and areas of improvement for the software development process.

  • Perform root cause analysis for defects and track key quality metrics to measure the project's progress.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes and participate in process audits to ensure adherence to quality standards.

  • Collaborate with quality engineers and other team members to interpret test results and support decision‐making processes related to software quality.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing test cases, scripts, plans and procedures to support various development methodologies

  • Expert at existing QA best practices and methodologies to design, implement and automate processes

  • Detailed and effective written communication skills for documenting the features tested and bugs found

  • Highly organized, detail oriented, extremely responsive and able to prioritize a large number of tasks

  • Self-motivated, works well independently and with others

  • Able to explore, investigate, and prototype leading-edge concepts

  • Ability to thrive in an open, candid, and respectful work environment

Qualifications

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Information System or equivalent.

  • 5 years experience in the software quality field including prior hands-on quality engineering experience.
