School Summary

Utah Connections Academy (UCA) is a tuition-free, online public school that serves students in grades K–12 throughout Utah. UCA is authorized under state law by the Utah State Charter School Board and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school is operated by Utah Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Utah, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. UCA is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, the Northwest Accreditation Commission, and the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), which are accrediting divisions of Cognia.

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

Working from the school office in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Administrative Assistant will be a part of an energetic and thriving team community. There also may be opportunities to work from your home office in addition to the school location. An online school has an environment conducive to supporting the various needs of teachers, administrators, students, and parents – all while being part of an organization that will value and support you. The Administrative Assistant will be instrumental in supporting: student and family transitions to the UCA model, student enrollment and retention services, cultivating communication between UCA families and staff, and supporting the Special Education and Counseling Departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Entering data into the school information system

  • Student record management

  • Generating reports

  • Answering questions from schools, families, and students

  • Scheduling meetings and venues

  • Assist with testing and graduation

  • Assisting the school principal and office manager with a wide variety of daily responsibilities; and

  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be able to report to the office in Salt Lake City, UT; Work location may be flexible between home/office

  • Bilingual Spanish-speaking required

  • Must be able to collaborate and work well in a strong team environment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

  • Forward thinking problem solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both oral and written

  • Strong attention to detail and follow through

  • Customer focused approach

  • High degree of flexibility

  • Experience in a school environment preferred but not necessary

  • Ability to learn and research State specific laws, policies, and regulations

  • Must be able to use a personal electronic device and email address for 2-step authentication
