Job Overview

The primary role for Datacom General Manager (GM) is to develop and execute all product line strategies associated with growing the assigned Industrial Market for Premise, AccelTex and Rocket. GM is responsible to drive maximum productivity through direct management of the Sales organization in addition to close collaboration with Marketing, Engineering, Customer Service, Operations and Finance in order to design, market, engineer, manufacture, and distribute quality products or solutions that meet customer and/ or market needs. This role will collaborate and lead with the VP of Pricing all pricing/margin activities and will work directly with the Datacom Sales Team to exceed profitability and revenue objectives for the assigned Datacom business.

A Day In The Life

  • Owns, drives, and executes the overall sales strategy for Premise, AccelTex and Rocket

  • Ensure that there is a sufficient pipeline of new product exploration and development for the Datacom Markets

  • The GM will be measured on supporting and developing all channels to market and responsible for overall cost and margin improvement of assigned product line

  • Works closely with VPGM, Marketing, Engineering, Customer Service, Operations and Finance to develop and lead channel partner strategies and programs

  • Collaborate with direct Sales Team and Engineering on specific New Production Development (NPD)

  • Maintains awareness of industry trends, potential technology partners and acquisitions that can provide synergies to company P&L and growth

  • Represent Hubbell and EP as appropriate in their relationship with major customer suppliers, competitors, government agencies, etc.

  • Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or business field preferred (Masters preferred); along with a minimum of 7 to 10 years’ related experience

  • The ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer services while building and growing a strong business unit

  • P &L accountability

  • Experience in a leadership role with oversight of multiple managers and supervisors

  • Proven track record of success with major industrial channels that include direct to end user, OEM, Electrical Distribution, alternate channels such as catalog houses and web based online stores.

  • Experience with international business (both customers and suppliers)
