ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company Lead Network Engineer in San Antonio, Texas

Job Responsibilities:

  • Network Leadership & Management:

  • Oversee the network team’s daily operations, ensuring all projects and tasks align with organizational goals

  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement

  • Provide strategic direction for network infrastructure development and ensure alignment with business objectives

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address and resolve complex network challenges

  • Core Network Design & Implementation:

  • Lead the design and management of LANs, WANs, SD-WAN, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems

  • Configure and optimize BGP routing, both internally and with ISPs.

  • Oversee the management and troubleshooting of Cisco switches, Nexus, and FortiGate Firewalls

  • Integrate F5 with other network components

  • Automate network tasks using Ansible for enhanced efficiency

  • Monitoring and Security:

  • Ensure network integrity and security through proactive monitoring and advanced testing.

  • Perform Root-Cause-Analysis (RCA) and advanced troubleshooting to address network issues.

  • Implement and manage firewalls and security protocols, including Palo Alto and FortiGate.

  • Network Optimization:

  • Optimize and maintain network services, including VPN gateways, OSPF, BGP, IPv4/IPv6, and GRE Tunnels.

  • Manage network performance, ensuring optimal functionality and rapid recovery actions when necessary.

  • Team Collaboration & Support:

  • Lead and support network-related technical discussions and decision-making processes.

  • Supervise personnel and lead critical implementation tasks as assigned.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support network operations.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive technical expertise in system testing, analysis, and network infrastructure management.

  • Advanced experience with routers, switches, provisioning, firewalls, and security systems.

  • Deep understanding of firewall policies, VPN technologies, and security best practices.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.

  • Strong organizational abilities with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to lead advanced troubleshooting efforts, restoring network services quickly and efficiently.

Minimum Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Certifications: Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) in one of the following areas

  • Infrastructure

  • Security

  • Design

  • Datacenter

  • Experience:

  • 8-12+ years of experience in network administration.

  • 8-12+ years of advanced technical experience with network infrastructure.

  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership or management roles

  • Proficiency in BGP/OSPFv3 Routing configuration and management.

  • Strong knowledge of IPv4/IPv6 management

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Infoblox IPAM and DNS management

  • F5 Networks certifications.

  • Palo Alto / Fortinet NSE7 Network certifications.

  • Cloud certifications.
