City of San Antonio Public Health Nurse - Tuberculosis (Grant Funded) in SAN ANTONIO, Texas
Job Summary
Under general supervision, is responsible for providing nursing care andrelated nursing services under the direction of a Public HealthPhysician and senior level professional nursing staff. Workingconditions are primarily inside an office environment with occasionalexposure to hazardous materials, bodily fluids and frequent exposure toinfectious diseases. Exercises functional supervision over assignedstaff.
This position is a "grant funded" position, therefore unclassified and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.
The San Antonio Metro Health District (SAMHD) provides public health services to clients, which may include risk for exposure to and possible transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases. Employees in high-risk positions will be required to obtain relevant immunizations, perSAMHD Policy DM13.2. Review and consideration will be given to requests for exemption from this policy.

Work Hours7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
Job Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification for Healthcare Providers.
- License to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.
- Any applicant selected for this position must have a background check completed with results satisfactory to the City of San Antonio and successfully complete the City of San Antonios Cash-Handling Certification Training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Community health experience.
- Experience working with Tuberculosis/Infectious Disease patients.
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
- Current CPR/AED/BLS Certification.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Excellent Communication Skills.
- Excellent Computer Skills.
