Job Title: VC-25B Structures Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Structures Mechanic to support the VC-25B Program. This role involves maintaining, repairing, and modifying aircraft structures and components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical parts. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of aircraft repair procedures, sheet metal/structural modifications, and the use of specialized tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical support structures and fracture critical areas.

  • Locate blind holes necessary for the installation of new structural items to existing structures.

  • Carry out efforts associated with sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structures according to standard repair processes.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modifications/repairs.

  • Proficiently access and use computer systems daily for work instructions, drawings, and training.

  • Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level modification and repair of structural parts.

  • Solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturers' manuals.

  • Troubleshoot and repair aircraft mechanical components, including sheet metal/structural modifications and electrical systems.

  • Use aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.

  • Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate online parts and discrepancy requests.

  • Provide guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians during aircraft modifications and maintenance efforts.

  • Operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and riding type electric-powered elevating equipment as needed.

  • Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits for assigned work.

  • Work various shifts and/or an alternate baseline schedule, including weekends and holidays, to support mission requirements.

Essential Skills

  • 4+ years of on-aircraft heavy structures experience.

  • Experience with close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical support structures.

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft repair procedures and replacement of parts.

  • Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.

  • Knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, and sheet metal brakes and sheers.

  • Proficient computer skills, including aircraft-related systems and basic office software.

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Very Important Person (VIP) aircraft or specialty aircraft interiors installations within the last ten years.

  • FAA certification in Airframe and/or Power Plant license is preferred.

  • Knowledge of shop mathematics and practices.

  • Experience working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures.

Work Environment

The work environment requires the ability to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds. You will be exposed to noise, elevated platforms, and will need to use personal protective gear for face, eyes, ears, hands, and arms. The role involves frequent reaching overhead, walking on flat surfaces, standing on flat or uneven surfaces, balancing on ladders or steps, and occasional climbing on ladders or stands. You must be able to handle, use, and dispose of hazardous materials, and maintain training certifications as required. Work shifts may vary based on business needs and may include weekends and holidays. Mission requirements may necessitate both scheduled and unscheduled overtime.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of SAN ANTONIO, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00
