Robert Half Accounts Payable Supervisor/Manager in San Diego, California

Description Responsibilities:

Supervision and Leadership:

Lead and manage the accounts payable team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and professional development.

Set clear objectives and performance expectations for team members, conducting regular performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback.

Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork and communication within the AP department and across other departments.

Invoice Processing:

Oversee the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Review and approve invoices for payment, verifying coding, accuracy, and proper authorization.

Address discrepancies or issues with invoices, working closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve any outstanding issues.

Payment Processing:

Manage the payment process, including the scheduling and generation of vendor payments through various methods such as checks, ACH, and wire transfers.

Coordinate with the finance team to ensure sufficient funds are available for payments and reconcile accounts payable transactions.

Expense Management:

Supervise the processing of employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company expense policies and timely reimbursement of employees.

Review and approve expense reports, verifying supporting documentation and adherence to established guidelines.

Vendor Relations:

Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with vendors, addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.

Negotiate payment terms and discounts with vendors to optimize cash flow and minimize costs for the organization.

Process Improvement:

Identify opportunities to streamline accounts payable processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce manual efforts through automation and technology solutions.

Implement best practices and controls to strengthen internal controls and mitigate risks associated with accounts payable operations.

Reporting and Analysis:

Generate regular reports on accounts payable metrics, including aging analysis, payment trends, and vendor performance.

Analyze data to identify patterns, trends, and areas for improvement, presenting findings to management and recommending actionable solutions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Previous experience (X years) in accounts payable or related accounting role, with (X years) of supervisory experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and accounts payable processes.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification such as Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) or Certified Professional in Accounts Payable (CPA).

Experience with process improvement initiatives and implementing automation solutions.

Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to accounts payable operations. Requirements Accounts Payable (AP)
