Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$32.283 - $41.655 - $51.028

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

Analyze, develop, and validate statistical data. Assist in the maintenance of actuarial models developed by internal and external actuaries. Assist in the preparation of data inputs for actuarial models developed by internal and external actuaries. Assist underwriting processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field

  • Experience with data retrieval and relational database

Preferred Qualifications

  • Health benefits actuarial experience

Other Qualification Requirements

  • Completion of one Society of Actuaries examination is preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Data analysisAssists with Actuarial ServicesApplies actuarial principles in a manner consistent with financial objectives and regulatory requirements.Assists with analysis of all lines of business.Assists with a variety of analytical activities related to enrollment mix, group/individual premium/utilization ratios, as well as opportunity analyses.Meets deadlines for providing actuarial analysis.Assist internal and external actuaries with ongoing and ad hoc analyses.

  • Department support and teamworkAssists Underwriting Personnel and Data AnalystsAssists underwriting personnel with benefit design and rating strategy.Assists in the development of new health products to be offered by the plan.Assists Data Analysts with consistent and valuable reporting.Assist other departments with premium and benefit validation and testing.

  • Participates in other duties as assignedParticipates in special projects and other duties as assigned. These may include, but are not limited to: proposals, audits, back-up support for other teams and departments, etc.

  • Provides internal and external customer serviceProvides prompt, accurate and excellent services to internal and external customers. Develops solid professional working relationships with various internal departments and as required, vendors, providers, employers, brokers, regulators and other customers.Collaborates with external actuarial consultants as needed.Assists cross-functional workgroups as a representative of the Actuarial Team.Anticipates resource needed to meet requirements, expectations, timelines, and deadlines.

  • Reporting supportAssists internal and external actuaries with regulatory reporting.Assists with the creation of useful standardized and specialized reports.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong PC skills with extensive experience with Microsoft Excel formula required.
