U.S. Marine Corps FITNESS PROGRAM & FACILITIES MANAGER, NF3/RFT in San Diego, California

Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! Responsibilities Develops a comprehensive Fitness Program per Marine Corps Order P1700.29 that includes planning, coordinating, scheduling, directing and publicizing of fitness facilities and activities. Directly manages fitness center programming, to include Personal Training, Group Exercise and Massage. Develops and establish plans, priorities and projected milestones for an annual fitness campaign. Advises the Semper Fit Director on matters pertaining to fitness. Coordinates special events and joint community programs that ensure effective use of fitness facilities and other resources to the ultimate goals outlined by the fitness program. Responsible for the programming and management of the MCCS Fitness Center in a manner that is most conducive to physical fitness. Oversees the scheduling and management of employees, maintenance of the fitness facilities (Fitness Center, Fieldhouse, HITT Center, and Racquetball Courts), budget planning and execution and all administrative duties related to the operation of the MCCS Fitness Facilities. Develops, markets and executes a comprehensive calendar of events related to fitness/health for the Depot. Recommends the necessity of refurbishment, renovation or expansion of fitness facilities and resources. Responsible for the selection of all fitness center employees, evaluation of performance, initiation of formal personnel actions, counseling, scheduling and approval of fitness center employee leave. Serves as the duty expert on all matters related to fitness to Depot personnel and to MCCS management and as the primary liaison with MCCS Headquarters regarding fitness matters. Adheres to safety, environmental, fire and EEO regulations. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Assists customers and communicates positively; checks for satisfaction of services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Keeps supervisor abreast of any problems. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. Performs other related duties as assigned. Controls over Position Work is performed under direct supervision of the Semper Fit Director. Incumbent serves as subject matter expert in the technical area and is given latitude in developing fitness programs to encourage positive lifestyles and behaviors of participants. The supervisor provides guidance and leadership in new, unusual or difficult activities or services and is available for advice and assistance as needed. Manuals, directives, and publications from higher headquarters are available for program guidance. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in fitness or a related field desired. Minimum two years¿ experience in recreation/fitness. Minimum three years supervisory experience. Supervisory experience may be substituted for the education. Must have valid CPR and First Aid certificates or the ability to obtain them in 6 months. Must possess excellent communications skills both orally and in writing, and computer skills including the ability to create PowerPoint presentations. Must have knowledge of individual and group motivational techniques to promote and encourage participation in fitness. Incumbent must possess ability to deal effectively with subordinates, management officials, and patrons. Must be energetic, committed, and farsighted.
