Rady Children's Hospital San Diego Physician Assistant - Orthopedics in San Diego, California

This employment opportunity is being recruited by Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego on behalf of Children's Specialists of San Diego.

The Pediatric Orthopedic Department is looking to hire a Physician Assistant (PA) to assist our outpatient clinic. Primary duties will be with our neuromuscular team, caring for patients with neuromuscular diagnoses such as muscular dystrophy, congenital myopathies, and cerebral palsy. Additional responsibilities will be caring for our general pediatric orthopedic patients and participating in fracture care. The PA should be comfortable with basic orthopedic procedures such as closed reductions, aspirations, and digital blocks. No surgical time is included in this position. The PA must work well as part of a team and independently. Excellent communication skills and organizational skills are required. Occasionally, duties may require the PA to help with Emergency Room and inpatient floor consults. Experience with EPIC electronic medical records is preferred. Proficiency in Spanish is desired but not required. The anticipated hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday – Friday but are subject to change based on the practice needs. Occasional night clinics until 7 pm will be required for an additional stipend—no weekends are required at this time.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is accountable for a defined patient population under the supervision of a licensed physician. Functions independently in a staff position, implementing the role of expert practitioner, consultant, educator, and researcher within a specialized area of patient care. Performs within the scope of licensures and in accordance with hospital policies. Some positions will be responsible for being on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed, pursuant to hospital needs. Also responsible for on-call duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree

Completion of a Physician Assistant Program

Current California Physician Assistant license

Current BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA

Furnishing number, State of California (w/in 1 year of employment)

DEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications (within 1 year of employment)

Medicare Billing number (NPI-National Provider Identifier) (Must obtain within 6 months of employment)

Certification: Physician Assistant, National Commission (w/in 1 year of employment)

Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services

Successfully complete the requirements of the delegations of Services for the assigned division

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s Degree

Two years of clinical nursing experience with emphasis in specialty area

Experience in specialty area as a Physician Assistant

Formal in-service education and/or lecturing skills

Bilingual

The expected hiring range for this position is $58.38 to $80.27
