Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Inspector Lead.

Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our San Diego, CA location and reports to the Quality Manager.

Position Summary:

The position will be responsible for managing day-to-day quality inspection activities across multiple shifts throughout facility. The position will lead quality and continuous improvement initiatives through collaborative alignment of operations, engineering, and sales with a strong emphasis on quality assurance, on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, and cost.

Essential Functions:

Lead, train, and manage Quality Inspectors. Lead assigned Quality Inspectors through teaching, coaching, establishing high standards, and ensuring accountability. Lead by example that Safety is a way of life. Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications. Conduct examinations and quality control inspections on products, processes, and services at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards. Perform visual and mechanical inspections of as-molded components, assemblies, and sub-assemblies. Prepare and complete all necessary documentation for reporting acceptance/rejection of inspected and/or tested products, processes, and services. Perform routine quality inspection on engineering designs, assemblies, piece parts, final assemblies, tooling, and other as defined. Conduct internal and production floor audits and corrective action follow-up. Assist in supervision of production floor inspection activities on assigned programs, processes, and projects including schedule and process control. Assist in communicating job expectations, planning, and monitoring to meet quality inspection objectives. Assist in assessing personnel needs to determine skillsets required. Assist in determining training needs and completing training programs with the team. Monitor labor hours and overtime for the team while creating time efficient operations with the team: Monitor, take note, and report as appropriate when employees: arrive to work area, take break, return from break, take lunch, return from lunch, and finish work Ensure adherence to work instructions and inspection plans Ensure Quality Inspectors know what they are expected to do the next day and ensure the Quality Inspectors have the tools, materials, and work instructions / inspections plans to perform the activities - not responsible for fetching the tools, materials, and work instructions / inspection plans but for communicating up the chain to obtain the necessary items if the items are not readily available Work with operations and engineering on nonconformance issues. Meet continuous improvement objectives, plans, and schedules. Responsible to maintain team environment between all departments. Reaffirm existing quality goals or establish new goals and lead the group effort to achieve those goals. Ensure quality metrics for process and projects are well-known, communicated, and track progress toward achieving Enterprise objectives and production schedules. Assist in cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives for quality, safety, on-time delivery, efficiency, and scrap reduction. Monitor workflow to ensure schedules are met and bottlenecks are identified and effectively managed. Assist, analyze, and implement process flow improvements. Determine and assure optimum personnel staffing. Organized, self-motivated, strong attention to detail, and high level of accuracy. Exhibit and promote an attitude that leads to an engaged and energized workforce. Be a team player: hungry, humble, and people smart. Always operate in compliance with Rock West Composites quality management system. Adherence to all AS9100 including IS 9001 requirements. Comply with Rock West Composites company policies, procedures, and code of business conduct.

*Required Education and Experience: * High School diploma / GED is required Composite manufacturing experience is a big plus 3-5 years of lead experience within a composite manufacturing facility. Must possess strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills and work effectively across all areas of the business Current computer literacy is a must, including full proficiency in the use of the entire Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook) Experience with AS9100 quality management system Experience with contact and noncontact inspection methods Eligible candidates must be a United States Citizen, United States National, or a person lawfully admitted for permanent residence

Compensation:

The compensation range for this position falls within $32-$36. The final compensation will be determined based on experience, skillset, and other factors permitted by law.
