Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety ManagerJob Description

We are seeking a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with at least 5 years of experience working on federal sites with hazardous waste and remediation efforts. The ideal candidate will serve as the health and safety lead for field projects, which include soil sampling, gas sampling, and water sampling. This role involves overseeing the preparation of Health and Safety documents and managing the H&S programs for ongoing projects. Strong communication skills are essential to collaborate with various teams and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at local, state, and federal levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead health and safety for field projects involving soil sampling, gas sampling, and water sampling.

  • Serve as a program support member.

  • Oversee the preparation and implementation of Health and Safety documents.

  • Conduct safety briefings with project teams.

  • Balance work between program management (60%) and fieldwork (40%).

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical science, life science, or engineering with formal education and training in occupational health and safety.

  • American Board of Industrial Hygiene Certification or Safety Professional Certification.

  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training with current 8-hour refresher.

  • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local occupational health and safety regulations.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing safety and occupational health at hazardous waste sites.

  • Eligibility to work in the United States and on Department of Defense installations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in project management from a technical perspective.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a nice cubicle-style office located in San Diego, with a smaller office size of roughly 30 people. The team consists of a mix of individuals working both in the office and in the field. The company culture is laid-back and supportive, with a focus on work-life balance and employee value. The team frequently participates in events outside of work. The standard work hours are 8am to 5pm, with some flexibility for hybrid schedules based on commute. Travel is required 2-3 days a month.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00
