This opportunity resides with Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. HII supports the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC PAC) and U.S Marine Corps (USMC) program for Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Networking-On-The-Move (NOTM). Under our contract, C4ISR NOTM systems are enhanced to keep pace with advancing technology; reduce size, weight, and power; and transition satellite communications (SATCOM) to a Department of Defense-governed band. Our team supports the research, development, integration, functional test and validation, and expedited fielding of Command and Control capabilities on tactical platforms, including the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV), High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), and tactical fixed and rotary aircraft.
We are seeking a Satellite Communication (SATCOM) Engineer to work onsite with the NIWC PAC team located in San Diego, CA to support all aspects of systems engineering related to advancing the unique integration of SATCOM network and other communication devices into the NOTM system of systems architecture. The selected candidate will support engineering, testing, and initial fielding of NOTM capabilities at multiple CONUS and OCONUS locations as directed. Efforts will contribute directly to NIWC PAC's support of NOTM materiel solutions integrating new and advanced SATCOM capabilities on various ground, air, and sea platforms to meet warfighter needs.
Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!
• Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product, to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
• Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
• Supports fielding, operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and new equipment training for NOTM engineering by leveraging in-depth SATCOM, tactical networks, and RF data communications.
• Develops and/or reviews engineering documentation such as system specifications and test procedures.
• Develops change proposals to NOTM manuals with regard to integration, maintenance, and training.
• Supports definition of system requirements and allocation of NOTM System and Subsystem requirements to frame R&D efforts.
• Meets all performance requirements and quality standards as established by the contract and NOTM customer.
• Performs independently and under only general supervision.
• Communicates clearly, proactively, and frequently via phone, email, chat, and/or in-person.

• 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
• Prior military RF networking experience.
• U.S. citizen.
• Active Secret clearance.
Preferred Requirements
• 3 to 4 years of NOTM military experience, especially USMC stationary and mobile tactical SATCOM experience. May be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
• Cisco CCNA certification (must be certified within 6 months of hire and maintain credential throughout time in position).
Physical Requirements
Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
