If you excel in a dynamic, innovative environment and are passionate about pushing the boundaries of what's achievable with big data, cloud computing, and security analytics, the Applications team within Amazon Security Platform Engineering is the ideal place for you. We maintain a suite of services and products that empower security personnel to efficiently query, analyze, and automate workflows around petabyte-scale datasets, enabling critical security use cases such as incident response, security analytics, threat hunting, and low-latency detections. As our systems are foundational to the Amazon Security ecosystem, you'll have the opportunity to gain insights into various Amazon business areas, including e-commerce, Prime, Alexa, and AWS.

Successful candidates for this position will possess:

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including expertise in object-oriented design, algorithms, and data structures

  • Experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems

  • Proficiency in Scala, Java, or Python with a solid understanding of multi-threading and memory management

  • Full stack development ability to operate on all tiers of web applications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-motivation and the ability to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment

Key job responsibilities

  • Build and support Amazon Security's Application Platform which consists of a suite of services for ad-hoc querying, scheduling jobs, data visualization and summarization, cataloging capabilities.

  • Modernize security intelligence platform's data catalog and governance services to provide customers with rule based access controls and fine-grained data access.

  • Innovate and build data triggered job orchestration services to enable low-latency job execution on security data.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
