Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Sr. Staff Electronics Engineer - Integrated Communications Systems Technical Team Lead specializing in avionics communications technologies. This position will be in our Avionics Integration organization and will be located at Rancho Bernardo, CA or Palmdale, CA.

This candidate will serve as the Enterprise Technical Team Lead for a communication-based capability. The candidate will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and test of communications systems, managing multiple communication capability-based teams, and providing associated technical training, mentoring, and coaching to electronics engineers.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting communication system analysis, design, engineering capture, build, and integration

  • Performing technical evaluation and analysis of supplier proposals, design data, definition of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, system integration, and test execution

  • Actively participating in Program Risk and Opportunity and Change Management processes

  • Assisting with the development of Supplier Statement of Work and Performance Specifications

  • Directing the activities of subordinate engineers to complete project assignments

  • Documenting system requirements and interfaces with traceability to platform requirements

  • Performing liaison duties to disseminate information to Suppliers, Leadership, and other Integrated Product Teams and external customers

  • Supporting Cost Account Managers (CAMs), Project Leads, Responsible Engineers (REs), and leadership with regard to proposal development, cost planning, and performance tracking efforts

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. This position requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 14 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 9 years of related engineering experience.

  • Experience in the following:

  • RF and digital system design & analysis

  • Antenna theory and operation

  • COMMS Wideband and Narrowband integration and testing

  • Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. (Of note: SAP/PAR will be upgraded once selected candidate is in role. Therefore, candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain upgraded SAP/PAR.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current applicable SAP access

  • Proven leadership abilities to manage, coordinate, and oversee multi-disciplinary teams located in numerous geographical locations.

  • Experience in establishing and executing a staffing plan to support the achievement of programmatic and contractual goals.

  • Experience working in SAP/SAR programs

  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1553, RS-422, and MIL-STD-601

  • Experience with System Performance Verification

  • Networking/Cyber Security Experience

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment and the ability to communicate effectively

Salary Range: $188,200 - $282,200

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
